Asbestos Removal:

The type of enclosure for asbestos removal or encapsulation will be dependent on the asbestos being worked on or removed. It may be a simple exclusion zone or may be an elaborate system of enclosures that may incorporate large areas of a factory workspace or office floor.
When a full enclosure is required it means that the risk of asbestos fibres being released will exceed the safety levels set by government legislation. Enclosures are built with 1000g polythene and will use the building walls or scaffold framework or be independent structures such as timber stud cubes above service duct entrances.
Enclosures are built in homes too to ensure that no asbestos fibres are being spread across the home. It sounds daunting. But it’s all in a day’s work for TES. All questions will be answered when at the planning stage of the work so no one will be left not understanding the basic procedures that we take to ensure your safety.

We ensure that any areas where asbestos is located and due to be disturbed are sealed off using polythene and timber to create an airtight enclosure in order to contain asbestos airborne fibres.

Controlled wetting techniques such as spraying, injection with needles or using a sealant can now be employed to restrict and reduce the release of fibres into the air.

We make sure that any contaminated waste is securely double bagged and sealed in asbestos waste sacks, appropriately labelled and safely deposited at a specialist licensed waste disposal site.

The removal or encapsulation of asbestos is not the only thing we need to consider. Personal decontamination of our staff is also a primary concern. How we remove fibres for an operative so he can leave his work environment is dependent on what asbestos he is working with. In an ideal environment we will have a shower system incorporated within the work area

Decontamination Stages:

Stage One:

Once the shift or job is complete the operative will vac himself down for any fibres that have clung to his red coveralls

Stage Two:

Red coveralls are removed as well as wellington boots which were used for removal works and masks are wiped down with clean water. The mask is not removed.

Stage Three:

Clean blue coveralls and white transit shoes are then put on ready to leave the work area.

Stage Four:

Operative leaves work area and transits to the “dirty area” of the decontamination unit.

Stage Five:

The operative removes his clean blue coveralls and white transit shoes. He enters the shower and wets himself down completely. It is at this stage that he will eventually remove his mask and properly decontaminate before dressing and leaving through the “clean end”
